Understanding Day One Access
What is Day One Access?
Day One Access provides students with course materials at a reduced cost, helping ensure they are prepared for the first day of class. Materials are available through Blackboard, and students have the option to opt out. If print materials are required, they may be available for pickup or shipping.
Benefits for Students:
- Lower costs (often discounted compared to traditional textbook pricing)
- Immediate access to materials, reducing coursework delays
- Seamless integration with Blackboard
Enrollment, Billing, and Refunds
| What happens if a student drops the course? | If you drop a course by the add/drop date, you will automatically be opted out and will not be charged. If you received physical materials, return them by the provided deadline. |
| How does billing work? | Charges are posted to student accounts for courses participating in Day One Access. Opting out removes the charge. |
| What if a student fails to pay? | Unpaid balances may lead to revoked access, depending on program rules and timing. |
Access and Usage
| How does Day One Access work for multi-semester books? | This depends on the publisher license. Some materials are one-term; others may extend longer. If you move sections, transfer, or re-enroll later, you may need to purchase access again. |
| How long do students retain access? | Access length varies by publisher and product. Many eBooks are available for a limited period of time (for example, 180 days), while some products provide longer access. |
| What if a student fails and retakes the class? | Repurchase may be required unless the publisher license provides extended access. |
Opting Out & Physical Book Options
What does 'Opt Out' mean?
Opting out removes your digital access and removes the Day One Access charge from your student account. Students can opt out at theuaptcbookstore.com. Watch a tutorial.
Can students get a physical book?
Some publishers offer discounted print options within Day One Access, depending on the course materials.
Technical Support & Contact
| What if students can't access materials? | Ensure you are logged into Blackboard and using the course materials link for your class. If issues persist, take a screenshot of the error and contact the bookstore. |
| Can students opt back in? | Students may opt back in before the add/drop deadline. After that, reinstatement is typically not available. |
